July 2008 Virtual Sketch Date - reference

Welcome to the July 2008 Virtual Sketch Date!

The reference for this sketch date is above. It was kindly provided by Leslie Hawes. You can visit Leslie's blog here. If you've never joined in or were curious about what this is, please see the guidelines below. This is just a bit of fun for some online artist friends.

How It Works
  1. You need to comment on this post to be included.
  2. You have until Saturday July 26th to complete your drawing.
  3. You should then post your entry on your blog sometime on Saturday July 26th.
  4. I will create a post on this blog on Sunday the 27th with links to everyone's entry.
Art Guidelines
  1. Any medium is fine, graphite, charcoal, digital painting, colored pencils, etc have all been used.
  2. You are free to crop the image however you want, include what you want, exclude what you don't.

I have included a greyscale for those who may want to see the values more easily.

Please click on the image to see it full size.

Hi, all! Michael's wife, Kylie, here. I'm a relative-newbie artist (though since I learn most things by watching, then I guess I've had about 17 years of "schooling" watching him!), but he's talked me into giving this a shot. I don't have an art blog yet, only a food blog, but since the pic is of oranges I guess I can post my entry there. Oranges *are* food, after all, and one of my favorites, too. :D

Its great to see everyone participating. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with on this.

These fruits are called 'Sunquats' which, after researching it as I'd never heard of these, are a cross between a lemon and a kumquat!

Enjoy!

I rushed this at the end to get it done while kiddies were sleeping so not that happy with outcome, looking forward to improving next time though!
