September 2008 Virtual Sketch Date - The Reference

Welcome to the September Virtual Sketch Date!

The reference for the sketch date is above. A larger version can be found here on Flickr. It was kindly provided by Sharon. You can visit Sharon's blog here. Below are the guidelines for participating in the Virtual Sketch Date. The purpose is to have fun with some online artist friends.

How It Works

1. You need to comment on this post to be included. If you have multiple blogs, it is helpful if you can leave a link to or the title of the blog that will have your Virtual Sketch Date image.
2. You have until Saturday, September 27th to complete your drawing.
3. You should then post your entry on your blog sometime on Saturday, September 27th.
4. I will create a post on this blog on Sunday, September 28th with links to everyone's entry.
   

Art Guidelines

1. Any medium is fine -- graphite, charcoal, digital painting, colored pencils, watercolor, pen & ink, etc. have all been used.
2. You are free to crop the image however you want -- include what you want, exclude what you don't.

Save the September Dates

Hi everyone!

If you are interested in participating in the September Virtual Sketch Date, mark your calendar and save these dates.

The reference will be posted Friday, September 19th.

Entries should be posted on your own blog Saturday, September 27th. Make sure you put an "I'm in" comment on the reference post here by that date as well.

I will post the results summary Sunday, September 28th.

We have a lovely reference for this month and I'm looking forward to seeing all of the great entries.

August Sketch Date - Results

Just a few brief announcements before we get to the links...

Thanks to Sherrie Roberts for letting us use her photo this month.

Thanks to Stacy Rowan for agreeing to help administer these sketch dates. She will be in charge for September. I, Rose, really appreciate both Jeanette and Stacy agreeing to help me do this. These are lots of fun and with having to do the admin only once a quarter it's even more fun.

There are some amazing entries this time - lots of variety! Well done everyone.

August Sketch Date

Hey Gang! A few things...

One:
I've added subscription buttons to the sidebar on VSD, so you can now subscribe to find out what's happening without having to check back.

Two:
The VSD reference for August will be posted on August 22nd. The actual sketch date is on the 30th, a week later.

Three:
Call for volunteers! We need a reference for the sketch date in August. The first person to comment on this post with a suitable reference (see guidelines to the left) will be the provider. Please do not email myself or Jeanette - it makes it too hard when we get some offers over email and some in the comments. If you have already done it, please let someone else offer.

Four:
To simplify things, we are going to continue the trend of having the sketch date during the last week of the month. So the sketch date will generally be on the last Saturday of the month, the reference will come out about a week before.

July Virtual Sketch Date - the images

This little venture has exploded in terms of participation this time and its wonderful to see all the different interpretations of these sunquats. Thanks again Leslie for letting us use your reference photo for this. And many thanks to all those who took time to participate in the Virtual Sketching Date!

There is only one individual who hasn't posted a drawing, but I'll keep checking today and if she posts, I'll add her to the list.
